Hello! I’m Jenni Bearden, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW), and Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™). I am deeply committed to providing compassionate care and support to children, youth, and families who are navigating life’s challenges.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Samford University, followed by a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Alabama. In addition to my formal education, I hold graduate certificates in Play Therapy and School Social Work. Currently, I am pursuing a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) degree at the University of Memphis to further enhance my ability to support those in need.
As a Registered Play Therapist™, I use creative and engaging therapeutic techniques to help children, youth, and adults express themselves and work through their emotions. I am also certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT®) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and I am in the process of earning certification in Autplay Therapy. These certifications reflect my commitment to evidence-based practices and my dedication to providing the highest quality care for my clients.
My approach to therapy is multifaceted, incorporating methods such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. With over 20 years of experience working with clients ranging from age 2 to adulthood, I specialize in addressing a variety of issues, including behavioral problems, communication difficulties, depression, anxiety, marital concerns, juvenile justice, parenting challenges, trauma, and more.
I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where my clients feel safe and supported. I believe that clients are the experts in their own lives and stories, and I work collaboratively with them to help them achieve their personal goals.
For the past six years, I have worked in community mental health, focusing on the needs of children, youth, and families. Through this work, I have witnessed the profound impact of community violence, limited educational resources, poverty, and generational trauma. I am particularly passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and breaking down the barriers to accessing mental health services.
In addition to my clinical work, I am dedicated to giving back to the profession by supervising those seeking licensure and providing training to clinicians in evidence-based treatments.
Outside of my professional life, I cherish time with my husband and two children, Dianne (13) and Marjorie (11). Our family loves camping throughout the year and spending time outdoors. We are also training our puppy, Teddy, to become a therapy dog so that he can join me in sessions, bringing even more warmth and comfort to my work.
